Caravanning

Nr Narbonne, France (September 2009)

We've owned a caravan since 2001.

Our first van was a 1997 Coachman Genius 460/2 which we bought in 2001.  This was an ideal 2 berth van for first timers and had all the required equipment.  She served us well both in this country and abroad on numerous occasions.  It was only until we were away in Tewkesbury one weekend in 2008 with our then encumbent cat and grandson that we realised that maybe it was time for a bigger van (basically they took up most of the bed, so we had to squeeze onto about 12" of the bed - not the most comfortable of nights - the cat and grandson were fine!).  Sadly, the van has now gone to the great caravan park in the sky after being involved in an accident after we had sold it on.

In 2008 we changed our van to a 4 Berth Bailey Senator Series 6 Arizona (pictured above & below) which does give us the extra room should we wish to take the (now 2) grandsons and cat(s) away with us.  It also gives us the additional space for extended stays abroad and since buying the van, we've had 2 trips to the south of France and 1 trip close to the French/Swiss border, as well as numerours trips in England and Wales.

We love the freedom.  You don't have to go far and as they say, "A change is as good as a rest".  It's true and when you've had a dire week at work the change of scenery does you the world of good.  We often disappear for the weekend and we may only go 20 or 30 miles down the road but it helps get you out of that rut.
